We are not good at multitasking

This is going to be hard to hear…but humans are terrible at multitasking.

Yes…even you.

Our brains cannot fully focus on two things at once; that means when we’re “multitasking,” we’re giving most, if not all, of our attention to one of those tasks.

Of-course, when we’re at our computers, it’s easy to want to “multitask.”

That could come in the form of listening to a podcast while trying to write. It could be switching between tabs or apps.

Or it could even be as innocuous as taking notes during a call.

With the advent of AI transcription tools, of-course, we don’t really have to do that anymore…especially if we find a really good app.

Supernormal is a really good app. Here are a few reasons why:

  • I can actively chat with it, which means I don’t need to take notes during calls.
  • If I do try to “multitask,” I can quickly become fully present again by asking Supernormal what I missed.
  • When the meeting is done, I don’t have to worry about copying anything and sending it anywhere.

I can run the commands and prompts (called shortcuts) they provide…or create my own.

And since Supernormal doesn’t need to join the meeting — it just grabs my computer’s audio — I can use it for other things…like my podcast recordings.

As a solopreneur, it can feel like we need to multitask.

Like if we’re not doing everything, we’re not doing enough. But the best thing we can do — especially for our clients and peers — is be fully present and attentive for them.

Supernormal allows me to do that, as well as be fully confident that whatever I need to do after the call will be taken care of.

If this resonates, you can download Supernormal and see if it earns a place in your workflow.

Something I ACTUALLY Use AI For

I never liked meetings…even when I was getting paid to sit in them. But since doing a lot less development and a lot more coaching and consulting, meetings have become an important part of what I do.

If you’re a solopreneur, you know the cost-benefit struggle of sitting in a meeting vs. doing the work. In this video, I’m showing you how I use Supernormal to help me make the most of every meeting — coaching or not — and deliver better for my clients and peers.

Olivia Rodrigo's super cool stage at SNL I was watching Noah Kahan, the SNL musical guest over the weekend, when I came to a realization about why I've had a pretty big resurgence in my interest in the show lately. Yes — part of it is the 50th anniversary last year and the increased media coverage around the show. Part of it is the sketches are available on YouTube and Peacock+,...

Picture this: you wake up and you have this weird feeling…but you can’t quite put your finger on it. This feeling of doubt…like you’re struggling to think clearly. Like you’re in a bit of a brain fog. “I’m sure it’s fine,” you think. Some coffee will clear that right up. You go about your day. You notice you have an issue with your website. You ask Claude, “My website isn’t displaying my podcast episodes the right way. Can you fix it?” Of course! Claude pinpoints the problem and then asks if...

For all of my talk about how terrible LLMs (AI, colloquially) usually are, it might seem surprising to you that I shelled out $100 for a month of Claude MAX*, and will likely do it again. But my beef with LLMs isn't that they exist. It's almost entirely the way people are using them, which is almost directly a result of the way AI advocates talk about them. Case in point: Cal Newport's latest podcast episode, Is Claude Mythos Terrifying? | AI Reality Check, completely debunks what Anthropic's...
